Food is a basic need for survival. It is the only source of fuel for our body. Food is not just about calories but a combination of various macronutrients and micronutrients. What I usually advice people is to view food as whole mixture of various nutrients and not just calories. For good health you need both macronutrients like carbohydrates, proteins and fats (Yes people you do need fat for survival and good health) and micronutrients like iron, calcium, sodium, potassium and the list can go on.

There is no shortcut to good health. There is no pill/ magic drink/ powder in the entire world that can help you achieve good health and maintain it.It is rightly said that "YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT".

Being healthy isn't just about eating right but maintaining an active lifestyle. So it is important to concentrate not just on eating habits but including an exercise regimen in your daily routine.     7 WONDERful Benefits Of TURMERIC

    Turmeric has been used since thousands of years to treat a wide range of conditions. A few studies show that turmeric can help fight cancers, infections. It can also reduce inflammation and treat digestive problems. The active substance in turmeric is Curcumin. Curcumin is a powerful antioxidant. We recommend whole turmeric due to it's three best studies constituents- "curcuminoids" - CURCUMIN, BISDEMETHOXYCURCUMIN, DEMETHOXYCURCUMIN.  Some conditions in which turmeric helps: 1. Keeps fat cells at bay Curcumin helps promote weight loss and decreases the incidence of obesity related diseases. In obesity, inflammation occurs due to presence of immune cells called macrophages in fat tissues throughout the body. . Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory substance which suppresses the number and activity of these cells thus, reducing some dangerous consequences of obesity. 2. Scares away free radicals thus preventing Diabetes In people who have insulin resistance, turmeric helps control development of type-2 diabetes. Evidence shows that complications of diabetes are associated with oxidative stress due to generation of free radicals in the body, specially reactive oxygen species (ROS). Curcumin being an antioxidant scavenges these free radicals thus lowering the risk of developing diabetes. 3. Helps maintain a happy and healthy Heart Various studies suggest that turmeric prevents atherosclerosis, which occurs due to plaque that can clog arteries. This can ultimately lead to stroke or heart attack. Turmeric is also known to prevent build up of LDL- cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and lowers total cholesterol. 4. Fights Cancer Evidence from animal studies suggest that curcumin in turmeric prevents or treats few cancers like prostate, breast, skin and colon cancer. This property of curcumin can be attributed to its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. 5. Worry no more about gastric problems Turmeric is known to reduce symptoms of bloating and gas in people suffering from indigestion. Curcumin stimulates gall- bladder to produce bile which is why it improves digestion and improves gut integrity by it's anti-microbial action. 6. Infection and Immunity Turmeric may act as an anti-bacterial for fungal and viral infections such as oral thrush, vaginitis, ulcers etc. It is capable of blood purification and wound healing in certain doses, which needs further research. Now you know why Indian Mom's used to ask us to apply turmeric on cuts and bruises. 7.  Neurodegenerative Conditions Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and other conditions can be prevented using turmeric's powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, circulatory effects. No wonder Dadi Maa aur Dada ki memory abhi bhi itni achi hai. For reaping all these benefits of turmeric you just need it in dosage of 300-600 milligrams/day which is easy to incorporate in your daily diet.
