    By: Manju Mohan

Monsoon brings relief from scorching heat but it brings along share of woes too. Health problems such as cold, flu and viral fever increases during monsoon .During monsoon due to high humidity levels in atmosphere germs and bacteria thrive. So following tips can prevent you from falling ill and remain healthy during monsoon. Avoid eating outside food. Street foods such as pani puri, bhel puri and pakoras and samosas  seems very tempting during monsoon but they may contain bacteria which can cause any digestive problems. Avoid drinking water from outside as water borne diseases such as cholera and amoebiasis are on rise during monsoon. Include variety of colours fruits and vegetables in your diet. ln addition to nutrients they will provide good amount of antioxidants too. Make sure vegetables are washed properly. You can wash vegetables with warm water and some salt added to it. lt is extremely important to stay hydrated to ensure that your system is clean. You can add herbal drinks such as jasmine tea, chamomile tea or green tea instead of regular tea and cofee.lt will keep you healthy and will build up immunity also. Make sure that your house is clean and pest free during monsoon. Ensure that there is no water logging in and around house. People who face skin allergies during rainy seasons must avoid spicy foods. Spicy foods raise body temperature and stimulate blood circulation and it leads to allergies and skin irritation. People who suffer with arthritis should drink warm water with tulsi and dalchini (cardamom) on an empty stomach in the morning. Doing this improves bowel syndromes and also decreases pains in joints. Following these guidelines helps you to stay safe and healthy during monsoons. Always binge on nutritional food and be hygienic by taking necessary precautionary measures. Have a safe and healthy monsoon
