Also we to make sure we are not exceeding it more than 2 cups in a day. 2. Skipping meals helps you loose weight Fact: When we think with our logical minds it says we will be able to lose some weight by depriving the body of a meal. But the fact is it can be miserable situation for body as you end up eating more in the next meal. So by skipping a meal you not only reduce your fat burning ability but also store more calories as fat.  3.Foods labelled as NATURAL or LOW FAT or FAT FREE foods are HEALTHY Fact: Foods which are labelled as NATURAL, LOW FAT, FAT FREE does not mean it is healthy. These are all marketing gimmicks and when we read the label a little more deeply we can see the real facts.  4.Diet sodas are sugar free Fact: The truth is drinking diet sodas are just as harmful as normal sodas. Many of them contain artificial sweeteners which can trigger insulin release, leading to fat storage in your body resulting in weight gain. 5.Carbohydrates makes you fat Fact: Foods like Rice, potatoes and banana are not fattening. Banana has more or less same calories like other fruits. Potatoes and Rice being high on various vitamins, phyto nutrients and carbohydrates, it becomes the best source of post workout meal. We need to eat sensibly taking care of combinations, avoid fried potatoes and go for boiled ones.  6. Eating less calories will give you weight loss Fact: Opting for low calorie food, staying hungry it can result in minor weight loss with pain in body, low energy levels, pale skin and baggy eyes. Shocking truths about Table salt!

    By: Daksha Nichani

Salt is an essential ingredient consumed everyday to add flavor to our foods. But this natural mineral becomes poison till it reaches our home.  Here are some health dangers associated with table salt: Iodised salt which is available in the market contains iodine to avoid iodine deficiencies. But the truth is it not adequate to compensate for most iodine deficiencies also most of the people are not iodine deficient. Method of removing impurities and addition of iodine requires highly processing and refining. During this process most of the minerals are stripped out, anti-caking/anti-clumping agents and other chemicals are added to the salt which are toxic for liver and kidneys.  Increase in salt consumption can cause a rise in blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, kidney disorders, diabetes, acid formation and other major health issues. Also can lead to water retention which is the sole reason from weight loss frustrations and body puffiness. So are you wondering if not table salt then which salt can be healthy? Lets discuss about some natural salts which are safe and has amazing health benefits: -Sea salt/rock salt is better than table salt, unrefined and contains vital nutrients. Rock salt is not very expensive. It improves appetite, aids in digestion and soothes heartburn. Helps stabilize blood pressure by maintaining a balance of high and low blood pressures. Rock salt can be used to stimulate your body's metabolism and greatly improves body's immune system etc. -Other best option is Pink Himalayan salt which is considered to be the most pure form of whole salt on earth. It contains 84 trace minerals with many health benefits. Detoxifies body, improves sleep, Balances body pH, relaxes muscles & mind, Soothes away soreness, in contrast to regular salt lowers blood pressure, Improves blood circulation and healthy arteries and many more there on the list.  I am personally no more using table salt and have switched to himalayan salt. I am sure by now you too must have decided to quit table salt and move to other healthier options.  Healthy Tip: Abstain from adding salt in your salads, yogurts, fruits you can add healthy salads dressings such as lime, black pepper, basil, chilli flakes, oregano, mint, mustard, ginger etc.

7 Harmful after-meal acts you should Never Do!

    By: Daksha Nichani

There are some harmful acts that can get in the way of reaching our healthiest potential. Sharing with you some Don'ts after a meal for better digestion: 1. Don't drink water:   If we drink water especially cold water immediately after a meal, the water floods and dilutes the acid mixed foods and hampers digestion. If you take cold water it can solidify oily food you've consumed and slows down digestion. After 30mins you can have any warm drink to hydrate the body through the latter parts of digestion and replenish the lost liquids from digestion. 2. Don't have fruits:  Avoid having fruits after meals. Sugars in fruits delay the time of food to reach your intestines and can ruin the digestion process. You should wait about 1-2 hours before consuming fruits. Fruits should be eaten empty stomach or as snacks to gain proper nutrients. 3. Don't smoke:  Cigarettes contain at around 60 cancer causing carcinogens. Smoking is bad enough, but after a meal, its equivalent to smoking 10 cigarettes which can increase the risk of cancer associated with smoking. It is advisable to wait at least 30 minutes or 1 hour after meal. 4. Don't sleep: Avoid hitting the bed immediately after a meal. After eating, your body works hard to digest the food you ate and it can cause digestion problems and also it can harm your sleep. Wait for 2 to 3 hours between your meal and bedtime. 5. Don't go for walk or avoid doing intense exercises:  Walking activity has amazing benefits and highly beneficial for health. But after a meal it leads to acid reflux and prevents digestive juices from absorbing the nutrients of the food. Also avoid intense actvities immediately after a meal can result in nausea, vomiting etc. So before hitting the gym or going for a walk wait for atleast 45mins to 1hour.  6. Don't drink tea/coffee:  Drinking tea is not recommended after a meal. The tannins in the tea can combine with protein, vitamin B1 and iron in foods to create the difficulty in absorbing compounds. So tea and coffee lovers should wait for at least 1 hour, after which you can take your cup of tea. 7. Don't take shower: Digestion requires blood flow and digestion generates heat. The blood around the stomach gets diverted towards the skin during a shower instead of helping with digestion. You should wait at least 30 mins after a meal before you bathe.  Hope you will keep this in mind and live a healthy lifestyle!
