    Chia seeds

    By: Vanndana Das

Chia seeds are showing up on supermarket shelves everywhere these days, thanks in part to their superior nutritional value, subtle taste and versatility as an ingredient. They%u2019re able to stand in for eggs, oil or gluten, which makes them a perfect addition to pudding, drinks and baked goods. But 21st century foodies aren%u2019t the first to fall in love with this nutritious little seed; the Aztecs grew chia widely in southern Mexico and believed the food to have medicinal properties. Two tablespoons of chia seeds contain about six grams of protein and 10 grams of fiber, and more than half of its oil is a beneficial omega-3 fat known as alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Chia oil is one of the best vegetable sources of ALA, the consumption of which is linked to lower risk of diabetes, bone fractures, depression, heart disease and other chronic conditions. Chia is also a good source of magnesium, calcium, zinc and certain phenolic compounds, which protect cells against oxidative damage.

    STAY HYDRATED WITH WATER

    By: Vanndana Das

Having well-being enough water and other fluids throughout each day is important for good health and physical. Dehydration can cause fatigue, cramping, and reduce your ability to function physedically, so preventing it is key. Remember, even when you're not physically active, your body still loses water daily through your lungs, skin and amounts and other beverages should be consumed in moderation. This makes movements easier and minimizes the wear and tear of cartilage and bones The body loses water through sweat, urine and faeces. This loss must be constantly made good with clean and potable water How much water do you need? A normal, healthy person needs to drink about 8 glasses (2 litres) of water per day. During very hot weather and while undertaking vigorous physical activity, this requirement increases as a considerable amount of water is lost through sweat. When is water considered safe and wholesome? Water that we drink, should be safe and wholesome ie, it should be free from disease-causing agents like bacteria, viruses, parasites etc. and harmful chemical substances like pesticides, industrial wastes, heavy metals, nitrates, arsenic and excess of fluoride. Fluorosis, a disease which causes bone deformities and dental problems, results from drinking water containing an excess of fluoride over long periods. Generally, a concentration of 0.5 to 0.8 mg of fluoride per litre of drinking water is considered safe. How water is made safe to drink? If a water source is not safe for drinking, boiling it for 10-15 minutes is a satisfactory method of purification of the water. It kills all disease-causing

    By: Vanndana Das

The prime reason to detox should be to give you plenty  of good microorganisms. It aso helps your gut discharge toxins and bring your your pH  to balance, thereby leading to a stronger immunity. Some of the foods you will never hear in a regular Detox plan are :- 1)  THE UMEBOSHI PLUM Pickled umeboshi Plums are found mainly in Japan, but are now available in India. The plum has a powerful alkalising effect on the body, neutralising the acidity in the blood. It gets rid of fatigue, stimulates digestion and promotes the elimination  of toxins and the absorption of calcium. The citric acid in  umeboshi plums eliminates lactic acid in the body. 2)  REJUVELAC A simple drink made with any grain, such as wholewheatberries, jowar, quinoa, or amaranth, The last three are gluten free.Just sprout the grains , then add a litre of water and let it sit on a shelf, covered with a muslin cloth, for a day or two till the liquid is cloudy. Strain and keep the sprouted grain for next batch. Refrigerate the liquid ,add lime and drink. This liquid supplies probiotics, and enzymes, and breaks down undigested materials in the intestines. 3)  KOMBUCHA Ref erred to as the ' immortal health elixir' , kombucha is a beverage made with a colony of bacterial SCOBY( symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast). plus tea and sugar. This supplies a huge amount of probiotics and enzymes which benefit cleansing, detoxification, increased energy, weight loss and improved digestion. 4)  PRESSED SALAD This is a simple preparation with any one vegetable that can be grated and julienned , such as radish, carrots, cabbage, green peppers and cucumber.Add sea or rock salt.Gently press and massage the vegetable until it wilts.Place a plate on top of the vegetable and press down with a heavy weight. Allow it to stand with the pressure on top for 45 minutes and let water release from the vegetable. Discard or drink the water. Then rinse the vegetable with fresh water and eat as a side dish, about 2 tablespoons at a time. Pressed salad will help assimilate your entire meal and give you quick fermentation and good bacteria. 5)  KANJI Kanji is made with dark red carrots or you can use beetroots. Kanji is fermented for 3-4 days with water, mustard seeds, black salt and red chilli powder. It has a spicy sour taste.           Here are some Tips if You Are  Not  Losing Weight!!!! You are exercising, following some Diets and you are still not losing any Weight. . Here are some tips to lose some more weight :- I f you are exercising too much that can give you the opposite results. When you are exercising too much you are even more hungry and you eat more therefore, you are not losing any weight. A  HIGH PROTEIN DIET  can help you boost the weight loss. If you eat foods rich in proteins, you will feel full for longer periods of time. At the same time, you will lose fat and keep the muscle mass. I f you eat foods rich in proteins regularly, you will burn more calories. 40-80 gm of protein per day is recommended dose for women but it usually depends on the body weight. When you are on a diet, the water consumption is very important. You must be careful not to dehydrate the body because the function  of the liver and kidneys will be reduced and the body will store fat.The water will also help yo u to improve  digestion, eliminate constipation, andbloating. You should drink half the body weight in ounces of water per day. If you have a job that requires sitting about 8 hours per day, it will be difficult for you to be active. The sitting  inhibits  the lipase production and the best thing you can do is to set an alarm that will remind you to stand up and walk around. The stress  hormone called Cortisol increases your appetite. It elevates the production of neuropeptide Y, that is an important brain chemical that elevates the cravinf for carbs. The Cortisol has an important role in storing the fat in the abdominal area. Relaxing is very important and you should definetly try it.

    By: Vanndana Das

%u200B                                                          I n most cases CONSTIPATION is largely a result of eating a diet that includes a lot of refined and processed  foods and relatively small amonts of water and fiber. The solution is to  modify your  Diet. 1) Make changes in your diet and include a high fibre diet gradually so that your digestive system and your taste buds have time to adapt.Fibre adds bulk to the stools and accelerates the progress of waste material through the digestive system. You may initially suffer from gas or wind if your body is not used to fibre.. 2) Gradually increase consumption of fruit, vegetables and salads. You can include complex carbohydrates such as whole wheat, brown rice, whole wheat breads, oats whole pulses as sabut moong, lobia, chicpeas etc.Add salads and raw fruits to the diet. Eat a handful of nuts such as almond, walnuts, pine nuts etc. Include seeds such as Chia seeds, Flax seeds, pupmkin seeds etc  in your diet to increase Fibre. 3) Drink more Fluids. You can have water, lemon water, coconut water ,vegetable juices, soups, buttermilk, green tea etc. 4) Add Figs, mangoes , guava, grapes, bananas,  carrots , beetroots and prunes in your diet.Ripe Bel fruit is the best of all natural laxatives because it cleans and tones  up the intestines. 5) Drinking warm water with freshly squezeed lemon twice or  thrice a day is also helpful. 6) A couple of tablespoons of ALOEVERA juice every morning helps. 7) It is important to include at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercises and pranayam to help combat constipation. This activates your digestive system and regulates it as well. Incorporate these simple measures and you will not face the problem of constipation again.
