    Our food habits are undergoing transition from past few years, Traditional ways of cooking has lost its footprints in this modern era, paving way for processed food products and fat rich foods. Due to changing food habits and changing lifestyle, we are prone to have diabetes, heart diseases etc at a younger age. One of food component which forms reason for the lifetstyle disorders is FAT. Out of different types of fats namely monounsaturated, polyunsaturated and, saturated fatty acids, the latter tend to be a casuative factor for many metabolic disorders. Here are ten ways to reduce the amount of saturated fat consumption in our daily meal plan. Opt for leaner cuts of meat and remove fat whenever possible. Downsize meat portions.  Use vegetable oil and combiantion of oils in recommended allowances for cooking than butter or margarine. Try to add a piece of avocado instead of cheese to a sandwich Enjoy foods prepared by pressure cooking, steaming, baking, grilling than fried foods. Switch to low fat milk and diary products Make use of buttermilk instead of mayonnaise in salad dressings. Plate more veggies and cut fruits to snacks plate instead of fried snacks. We come across many oils in the market, which possess good health benefits; it could be vegetable oil, olive oil, rice bran oil and so many to list out. But we are interested to buy oils which  has highest nutritional benefits in it. Yes, we land up buying the best oil from the market. Now ask yourself whether we are handling oils as how they have to be handled? Where do you store the oil? Next to stove or range? If yes, heat is draining the antioxidants and reduces the life span of oil. What to do? Move it to cooler spot in the kitchen Do you place on open shelve? Room light damages properties of oil. How to protect oil from damage? Move it to darker and store in opaque container. Did you buy oil in big quantities and stack it? It goes without saying that oil are best used before 6 months. Now and then give a container of cooking oil the sniff test. If you get off-odour, it%u2019s time to discard it. Say you have bought huge quantity then transfer little into small container for daily use. Avoid opening the bottle too often. Can we store oil in fridge?
