Nutrition Counseling

Part of any successful weight loss and diet for medical problems are changing your diet; both the foods you eat and the quantity.

We will analyze your diet, including:

·    What you currently eat

·    Prior weight loss attempts, including successes and failures

·    If you have lost weight in the past, how you regained it

·    An understanding of the condition you have that may contribute to your extra weight

·    Your medical problem

Small changes in diet

We believe that small changes in your diet are the best way to help you achieve the healthy weight and improve your medical condition.

Some people have heard that low-fat diets are the best approach to losing weight, but then they cut fat from their diets completely. Without fat though, your body cannot metabolize your food properly. We work with you to understand the importance of a balanced diet, one that encourages you to eat from all the major food groups.

Why Pre Workout Meal is Important for You

    By: Ankita Gupta

Why Pre Workout Meal Is Important For You - A pre-workout meal is a whole foods meal that you have to eat before your workout to get constant energy throughout your workout. When you eat the right foods in the right amounts as you will learn shortly, these nutrients can offer a number of benefits, including: 1) More Energy During Workouts â€“Having complex carbs before workout Fill up your glycogen stores (body’s energy tank) and can help improve your energy levels significantly during a workout. , carbs are your gym BFF. The key is to have a mixed bag of complex and simple ones so that the release of energy during your workout is slow and steady throughout your routine If you have a very low carb diet, an intense workout can turn out to be very difficult to handle because glycogen stores are low and you will feel dizziness. 2) Protect Your Hard Earned Muscle â€“ A solid pre-workout meal can prevent muscle breakdown and improve energy repair and recovery. 3) Increased Muscle Growth â€“ Eating protein during your workout meal can help slowly release amino acids into your blood stream, which can promote protein synthesis. If you are eating enough calories, muscle growth can be improved. Whether your intention is to lose fat, or to build muscle, having a proper balance of carb, protein and fat in your pre and post-workout meals can be very helpful for you. Pre-Workout Sample Meal - Oatmeal with Whey Protein Mixed In (great if you have a sensitive stomach) 1 Whole Eggs, 2 Egg Whites, Peppers, Onions, Low fat Cheese, Grapefruit/Oatmeal Whole-wheat toast with fruit gives you both types of carbs with the bonus of being super easy to digest. Complex carbs will keep your motor humming, while the fruit adds an extra kick of energy. Bananas are perfect in raising potassium levels, which drop when you sweat a lot. For an added bonus, add a dash of cinnamon. The spice has been linked to stabilizing blood sugar and improving brain function. Chapati with paneer or egg bhurji and don’t forget to drink plenty of water.

Detox your body for healthy living

    By: Ankita Gupta

x A detox diet neutralize and release toxins from your body. So its good idea to nourish your body with natural food and get rid of deposited toxins from your body. You can easily do detox diet once in a month. During the internal breakdown of food, and other bodily process, harmful gases and waste products are produced. Though most of them are eliminated from body through urine, sweat and faeces. There is a small amount that gets stored in our intestine, sinuses and various cells in our body. This needs to be flushed out regularly from the body. What your detox diet should include- Include fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh fruit juices, lemon water, coconut water, butter milk, herbal tea, green tea, steamed vegetables, nuts, vegetable soups, milk and milk products, salad, cooked dal in your detox diet. Apart from food, one need to increase his/her water intake (at least two- three liters in day) to get maximum benefits from detox diet. While rest is important during your detox day, light yoga stretches or a light walk can be done.

Prevention is better than Cure !

    By: Ankita Gupta

Our present medical system is reactive. It starts working when we fall sick but can we think of the system which doesn\'t allow us to fall sick. Our ancient systems were just that, they work on prevention rather than cure. In older times in China, doctors used to be paid by the patients when they are healthy so doctors responsibility was to keep them healthy.Today doctors get paid when people fall sick so why doctor would want you to keep healthy all the time. My aim is to work with the older system, to work for the prevention of diseases than cure. There are three things which constitute overall  well being of the person; physical health, mental health & emotional health. Balanced diet & exercise keeps your body healthy & Yoga keeps your mind & emotions balanced. Taking care of just one element doesn\'t bring overall well being, you need to balance all three.  Start doing Pranayams ( Kapalbhati, Anulom vilom, & Aum chanting)  & Surya Namaskar for 15 minutes for mental & emotional well being. Take 30 minutes brisk walk to keep heart fit. Eat balanced diet to keep your body healthy...You contact me or any other diet consultant when you are healthy so you remain healthy.

    Food in a capsule

    By: Ankita Gupta

Few tips on Supplements (nutrition in a pill).... If you\'re healthy and eat a wide variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, low-fat dairy products, lean meats and fish, you likely don\'t need supplements. However, the dietary guidelines recommend supplements — or fortified foods — in the some situations. If you are asked to take some supplements, have it inthe specific time to get maximum absorption  Vitamins A, D and E (fat soluble) - take regularly with food. Iron - on an empty stomach (although it may cause nausea in some people - take with food if you suffer the symptoms). Calcium - high doses alone could be taken at night or between meals. However absorption of calcium is enhanced by taking it with other nutrients, so with meals may be far more effective. Vitamin B complex - first thing in the morning for greatest efficiency - though it is still effective at other times. Vitamin C - most effective with meals and this is the safest if you have an acid sensitive stomach. When taken in the morning some people report an increase in energy levels.  Magnesium - can promote sleep so it is best taken at night. Multivitamins, antioxidants and minerals - any time is effective and safe

Choose the right foods, seek out healthy habits and learn how strict you need to be in order to keep eating well for a long and healthy life. Calories The best way to control calories in your diet is portion control. Choose three to four healthy foods per meal in defined portion sizes. Avoid eating until you feel full. Food choices-Incorporate vegetables of many different colors%u2013white, yellow, green, orange, purple%u2013into your diet to maximize the cross section of nutrients you eat. Habits- Try to make healthy eating habits. Eating right involves lessening unhealthy habits while seeking out healthy habits.
